Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with the Society even if you are not on the Committee. Whether it be anything from helping to organise or run a campaign, to simply giving out flyers around the campus. You can be as involved as much or as little as you want, and any help is completely confidential.

Alongside the Society there are also many LGBT community volunteering opportunities around Nottingham that encourage people of all ages to get involved, including the GAI Health Project and Nottingham Pride. Again, you only need to do as much as you want or can do!

This page lists all the areas that we need help for within the Society, and also the organisations in Nottingham that are looking for people like yourself to be involved with. Don't forget that involvement with NTU Pride or organisations such as the GAI Project looks great on your CV!

NTU Pride
Bullying Sucks:
This year, for our priority campaign Bullying Sucks, we are running a "10-Second Action Day" involving a team on each campus asking fellow students to sign a petition to the Vice-Chancellor asking for a new dedicated anti-LGBT bullying policy at this University. We will need as many people as possible on each campus who will meet in City Site in the afternoon to present the petition to Vice Chancellor Neil Gorman. If you are interested in becoming involved in this day or other events for Bullying Sucks, email us or join the mailing list for regular updates.

Nottingham Pride - Committee GAI Project - Shag Pack Production
Nottingham Pride is the largest Pride event in the East Midlands, held in July every year. It is always on the lookout for new people to join the organising Committee. You could be doing anything from contacting the press to booking caterers for the day and organising the stalls or stage.

NTU Pride has two representatives on the Nottingham Pride Committee - contact James on N0110205@ntu.ac.uk if you are interested. Meetings are every Thursday at 7.30pm.
The GAI Project is a sexual health group that, among many other things, provides free condoms given out in the bars/clubs around Nottingham. You can come along and help put the 'shag packs' together, and is a great opportunity to meet new people.

Just turn up at the Health Shop and ask at Reception. Tea, coffee etc is provided.

> Every 2nd and last Wednesday of each month
> 6pm - 7.30pm
> The Health Shop, Broad Street
